First One...!
Team life...
I must say a bugga of a challenge with rewards... in fact, that's how I pretty much sum it up!
G'day I'm Michael (or Ceto), Team Leader of this mob of seven guys known as Dubbo Men's Team. We were thinking of coming up with something a little more creative name-wise.. but that thought died in the first 30 minutes of Team Retreat...
Anyway I'm just here to introduce this journal of life on DMT.
To sum up the year so far would take a 20000 word essay.. and I have little time and much sleep to catch up on! However, I can briefly say that our team is going strong... in unity, spirit, and our contacts are building in numbers all the time. I never would have imagined I'd be enjoying life so much living in the same house as six other blokes!!!
The majority of time on team has been a growing and moving phase. I made the decision to move from our previous location in Cobra Street to pursue a more neighbour-friendly, visitor-friendly environment. It took some time, but it was worth it! God blessed us with a fantastic place in East Dubbo on Windsor Parade. We have a middle-aged couple living to our left, and a young family to our right, a fine mix of people to get acquainted with! All in all, a perfect place to hold mission events and build a rapport with the locals.
We're just about to hold our first youth club event of the year, temporarily called 'The Cobras'. The idea is for the kids to come up with their own name for the group. For 9-14 year olds, it will be held monthly on a Thursday evening.
We hope also to establish a drop-in centre from our garage... a place the youth can drop by and just hang out. We hope to get a pool table soon! (and bar facilities... kidding!)
We'll keep you posted on how it's all going... until next time...
Michael.
